When I started this blog in 2016, I made a master list of all the films directed by women that I wanted to write about; after many years, I've only made the tiniest dent.

Ethereal, weird, and mysterious. The cinematography is gorgeous and Royalty Hightower is a badass. The first 10-15 minutes gave me major "Carrie" (De Palma, 1976) vibes, but the film ultimately takes a different tonal direction. I should admit I was a little bit disappointed this wasn'

Lonely, desolate, and repressed. The three women in this film sure as shit aren't sharing their internal dialogue with us via voiceover. They're used to being misunderstood and are done trying to make anyone understand: not us, the viewers, and certainly not their male counterparts.

This is maybe the most saccharine thing I've ever said, but I don't care: this film made my heart soar. It's incredibly endearing and a little bit sappy, but James Gandolfini and Julia Louis-Dreyfus have the best chemistry and I fucking love this
